A Perk (or Downside?) of Working in the EAP Office
So last night (our first night at Yonsei University), the majority of us silly Americans went out for dinner and drinks. We totally dominated the bar (I think it was called O.B. Park) and were totally obnoxious (not me of course, but the others). So there were initially three of us at our table (we were sitting apart from the other obnoxious drunkards
), so we were going to order
drinks separately. My roomie (Christina) and I were going to just get
500cc of beer each, and Isabel (from across the hall) was going to buy
a bottle. But then Christina's friend Matt (a fellow U-Dub student)
came along, so we decided to get a pitcher to share. But we didn't know what size
we were supposed to get, so we asked the manager (he was walking around
acting as a waiter) and he told us to get the 3,000cc pitcher. OH MY
GOODNESS that thing was huge. Monstrous. Isabel took several pictures
of it so when I get them I will be FB'ing them. Anyway, so I got poured
a glass and worked mighty hard to finish it (I hate the taste of
alcohol so it wasn't much fun). And I was so proud of myself when I
finished (although I got mocked for being weak for stopping after one
T_T).
BUT.. the story does not end here. Oh no. Definitely not. Remember the obnoxious drunkards I mentioned earlier? This is where one of them comes in. So one of my fellow Bruins, a very drunk guy who goes by the name of Dae (that's how he spelled it for us, but then again, he was very drunk) came up and recognized me. "Hey! You work in the EAP office, don't you?!" And that is where it began. He's apparently one of those happy generous drunks. So he wouldn't let go of the fact that I worked in the office and INSISTED on pouring me a drink (he brought over a pitcher). I tried my best to stop him, but how do you stop a drunk? So he poured me a glass. And then of course poured glasses for the rest of the people at my table and couldn't shut up about how I worked in the office. So thanks to him we all got a free glass of beer. We had to ask for crackers so Isabel and I could finish our drinks (She has high tolerance, but she was doing this on an empty stomach. And I'm apparently just weak sauce.) But when it came down to it, I finished my second glass. Go me.
So, is this a perk of having worked in the EAP office, or a downside? You decide.

Hmmmm..
So I know there were things I wanted to say, but what were they? How my mind loves to play tricks on me. Oh well. I have plenty to say on my own anyway. Seriously. Plenty.
Dental.. Stuff. Not for the queasy.
So I got my tooth pulled out last Wednesday (4/19). No, not my wisdom teeth. Those upper ones are still.. there. No, I got my #2 tooth (your upper right wisdom tooth is #1) taken out. That was.. fun. No. Not really. It was quick, and relatively painless considering I had gotten three shots to that area of the mouth. And then they sent me home telling me to sleep. Which I was planning to do anyway. But then they threw a wrench in the works by saying I needed to change my gauze every 30 minutes. Are they mad?! How do you sleep and change gauze every 30 minutes?! So I ended up watching TV the entire day.. trudging back and forth between my computer and the bathroom to replace the blood-soaked gauze with a fresh one. It was actually good.. in wasting Wed and Thurs, I managed to get all caught up with Bleach and Alias. Haha. But the dentist had lied to me yet again. They said the major bleeding would be over in 4-8 hours. They were wrong! I was still bleeding quite a bit 36 hours later... And all bleeding is supposed to stop after 24-36 hours later. Ummm.. I'm still giving out a liddo pinkness over a week later. My mouth really does hate me -___________________________________________-
Exercise does NOT give me Endorphins
So this has been the first week where I went to all 3! of my gym classes. Taekwondo on Monday and Wednesday and then Shadow Boxing on Thursday. Can I say PAINFUL?! Yes, I can! I have bruises all over my feet.. and the big blister on my left big toe popped. So I have this nice big patch of RAW skin. There's another blister on my right toe just waiting to pop. So Monday should be fun T_T And my body is SO sore. Still can't move without pain. My poor body..
Meals with Friends
So Tuesday dinners started up again last week. Abby made her own unique pazookie style dessert in honour of my birthday! Thanks Abby! And this past Tuesday was Christina's turn, and she did an Irish theme! Next week is my turn - time to bust out the Korean BBQ! Dena and I also met twice this week. Monday was our lunch.. we went to Enzo's. Yum. And on Wednesday I met Dena and Lois for brunch at Headlines! Very nice. Can't wait for our dates next week~
Korea VS. ...
Remember how at the internship fair I got all excited about potentially working at the X Games? Well, the lady called me. It's too late for the internship, but she was hoping I could be a marketing assistant. It killed me to tell her I would be in Korea during the time and so couldn't try out. I had forgotten (or repressed) the thoughts of X Games since it would only make me sad, but the phone call reminded me of what I was giving up. WAAAHHHHH~
OTHER NEWS
1. First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to JOYCIE! Okay, so it was Thursday, but I feel it's worth mentioning here. Because I love her *^^*
2. So www.kimcheese.org (which was my site for you ignoramuses) expired. Didn't want to put in all that money to renew it. SO I got another domain! Haha. Now you can find my site at WWW.ESTHERKIMCHI.COM. Nice, huh? It's still relatively empty because I'm lazy and busy and tired and whatnot.. but eventually stuff will go up~
3. I got a research assistant position! It's for a grad student who's in the same office as Nate *^^* And I started working in the EAP office again this week. That's right - I'm back! So come visit me on Wednesdays and Thursdays ^^
4. Despite the fact that it's supposed to be an easy A class (or maybe because of this fact, so I underestimated the test), I got a very embarrassingly low grade on my Astro 3 midterm. Very sad. Very sad indeed. And I have my Psych midterm this week. Not looking forward to that...
Psychic Music
So Karen had this thing on her Xanga and I decided that I would try it out too..
Go to your music player of choice and put it on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question.
How does the world see me?
"She Will Be Loved" Maroon 5 {I'm a "beauty queen of only 18"? ... I think not}
Will I have a happy life?
"Hold On (Piano Song)" The Starting Line {Is this a yes? A no? o.O}
What do my friends really think of me?
"Without You" Shinhwa
Chorus: (rough translation) Yes, I know what it means. That everything ended. That there will be no more happy times for us. There is no one I need if I don't have you. If it has to be like this, there is no more meaning to my life.
{... So my friends don't love me and will leave me? T_T}
Do people secretly lust after me?
"Nobody's Listening" Linkin Park {Apparently not.. since they're not even listening T_T}
How can I make myself happy?
"As Long As You Love Me" Backstreet Boys {So I'll be happy as long as you love me?}
What should I do with my life?
"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" Green Day {So I have to walk alone?}
Will I ever have children?
"Wish of a Blue Bird" H.O.T.
Children's chorus: You fill my heart up with love. I will become a blue bird and fly to you.
{So my children are going to change species and come to me?}
What is some good advice for me?
"Scars" Papa Roach {"I tear my heart open just to feel" ... Ummm, I don't know about this..}
How will I be remembered?
"You Don't See Me" Josie and the Pussycats {First I'm not heard and now I'm not seen?!}
What is my signature dancing song?
"Lebanese Blonde" Thievery Corporation {.. I don't know what to say to this}
What do I think my current theme song is?
"Someday" As One
What does everyone else think my current theme song is?
"Caring is Creepy" The Shins
What song will play at my funeral?
"To Your Side" Jo Sung Mo
What type of men/women do I like?
"Like That Guy" Se7en {So Se7en wants to be my guy.. MUAHAHAHA}
What is my day going to be like?
"Such Great Heights" Iron and Wine
Ummmm..
So, yeah, don't know what to think about my results. Interpret it on your own. I need to go study now.. Hope this update was satisfactory!

I AM 21 YEARS OLD!!!
Yes, that's right, turned 21 this past Wednesday.
As a result this week has been treating me pretty well. Let's take you on a day-by-day tour:
sunday
Williana, Jinwon, Kelly, Beck, Christine, Suzan, Jessica, Annie, and I all went to Curry House (in Little Tokyo) for lunch after church. I got treated to a cute liddo pastry, a yummilicious cake with strawberries, and a very delish lunch as well! I was also flowered with many gifts. Pictures can be found in my Facebook photo album. Thanks to all you guys!!!
monday
Day #1 of TaeKwonDo class. We didn't even go the full 2 hours and I was still dying of soreness the next day! I am sad. We paired up with the more advanced students and were learning only the very very very basics of it all.. and he was still looking at me like I was a pathetic retard. I am a disgrace to my own country and my own people *cries*
tuesday
Went to the dentist. This was not a happy day. Turns out that my tooth does not require a root canal, but instead requires a tooth extraction surgery. Yeah, that's not going to be fun. Called the ortho surgeon and scheduled it for this upcoming Wednesday. If it's anything like what happened with my wisdom teeth, it's going to be long and painful. And I will end up looking like a pathetic miserable lopsided chipmunk ><!!!
wednesday
I'm 21!!! Had quite an eventful day. CEC gave Kevin Smith the Jack Benny Award, so I helped out with that. Ariana took me to Novel Cafe for my birthday, and treated me to dessert at Eleysee Cafe across the street afterwards. Yum. We ended up missing TaeKwonDo class as a result. Spent the rest of the night watching Korean dramas and TV episodes. Keke. Also got several calls from friends wishing me happy birthday - thank you. My cousin and aunt even called from Korea! And Dena stopped by later at night to give me a yummy chocolate cake and a beautiful card. Thanks again to everyone!!
thursday
My Psych 196A contract got approved, so I was very happy to see Eng Comp 131D go. Haha. Went to my first shadow boxing class and almost died. Ariana and I concluded that it was a very good thing we missed TaeKwonDo the day before or else we really would have died. Not because the class is ultra hardcore or anything, it's just that my body is very weak and pathetic and not meant to move. Really. I'm a born couch potato. But later Ariana and my roomie Kenisha took me to Chili's for dinner and drinks. Thank you! I had my first official and legal margarita (Tropical Sunrise) and strawberry daquiri. I was so proud showing the bartender my ID *beams*
friday
Happy birthday to someone I love! This was also my first day working as a research assistant for the oh-so-nice Noel (who works in the same office as Nate! *giggles*) Natasha and her roomie Victoria took me out to dinner at CPK that afternoon and we tried different foods that I had never had before. Thanks you guys!
saturday
When I got back from Small Group Leaders meeting, guess who was waiting in front of my house? JOYCIE! She took me to the mall and bought me ice cream. And we hung out and chatted and even tried on dresses! Keke.. good times. Thanks Joycie!
All in all this has been a pretty darn good week. Now if only all weeks could be like this.. jk jk! Then I would turn into a fatso. A sore fatso. Waitaminute, isn't that what I am right now?! Haha. Anyway, I have more to share.. but that will wait until next time. Give me a lot of comments so I can come back soon! (Speaking of which, I will probably respond to your comments with another comment. So check back later to see if I respond to your comment!)

New Quarter
And so a new quarter has begun. It looks like it won't be so bad *knocks on wood* Only taking three classes since I couldn't get into what I wanted. And I'm banned from working until Week 4 since all of the work-studies are running out of hours. Travesty. So now I have all this "free" time on my hands. Which I should spend studying and getting ahead - or at least not getting behind - but am wasting anyway. Horrible.
OTHER NEWS
1. So I was right to be worried about two of my classes last quarter. The grades were not very nice. Not very nice at all. And I actually did worse in another class than I thought I was going to. So it was a very sad quarter overall. My poor GPA.
2. In addition to taking shadow boxing this quarter, I will also be taking taekwondo. Five hours of gym classes every week (starting next week). I am going to die. (So Kathy, don't feel bad. I might end up dying before I even make the fourth class. Haha)
3. Watched The Libertine over break. I love Johnny and he manages to shine even in that movie, but I don't recommend it. Unless you enjoy watching a drunk but witty Earl of Rochester be a manwhore and die painfully (really) of STDs (or something of the kind).
4. Met with the allergy specialist today (will discuss later in the entry).
5. Have my dentist appointment on Thursday. I think I have another root canal-needing monster living in my mouth. Very painful and not fun. Evil teeth.
6. I'm glad you all liked Christina's poopies. And yes Christina, be proud. Keke. But not of yourself, you Nate traitor! Can't believe you found a new infatuation already~
7. Lucky Se7en! But watch Brian (from FTTS) be hilarious
Why April is the BEST month ever
My birthday is coming up! In about a week. Next Wednesday - April 12! I will be turning 21 so I'm trusting you people to make it special!!!
WISHLIST - I haven't updated in a while so I'm sure there's more I want - I am a greedy person. But I can't remember what I would want. So this is what you get for now. If you can think of something else I would want, ask me and I'll verify. And don't feel the need to surprise me. I like knowing what I'm going to get. I'm strange like that
Allergic or Not?
And last but not least, my allergy appointment today. So I went to Ashe, explained to the good doctor my situation, and I got a skin test for peanut allergies. It turned out negative. But it doesn't really mean anything. She said that a negative result has a "high correlation" with not having the allergy.. but she thinks I should still avoid peanuts. She was saying how if I just consume small amounts here and there I should be fine, seeing as I didn't really react too much to the peanut.. solution? But she says I should be careful of consuming too much. Because it could be just that my body has "forgotten" about the peanut allergy since I have avoided them for so long, but if I eat them - and keep on eating them - it might remember once again and even get worse. Which would be bad. So she wants me to keep carrying around my epipen. Which actually I haven't been doing. Haha. It's in a drawer at home.
And they didn't have the
material to test me for tree nuts so there's no conclusion there. The
whole conclusion seems to be that I should keep on avoiding all nuts
and peanuts, but if I eat a liddo bit I should be okay. Gee whiz, I'm
SO reassurred now. Not that I want to eat them anyway, just the thought
of them makes me want to hurl. But yes, there you go. Don't feed me
nuts. Or peanuts.
